My name is Ida and I am:
- a Finn-Swede! We are a minority in Finland, around 265 000 out of 5.3 million people (according to Wiki). We’re NOT from Sweden even though our mother tongue is Swedish! I stem from Österbotten (Ostrobothnia), or more precisely a little village called Kvevlax. There I grew up amongst my cousins at a place we like to call “the hill” or in Swedish: backen.
Below you can see my beautiful country Finland, and marked in green is my home county: Österbotten.
- a Christian! I believe in God, that Jesus is his son and that I have the Holy Sprit to lead me through life. My church is Filadelfia in Helsinki. Here is our web-site for anyone who’s interested: http://fila.blogspirit.com/
- a scientist (or at least I like to think so)! I’m currently working at the Institute of Biosciences at Helsinki University. I’m studying fruit fly development, patterning of the embryo and the imaginal discs. I got my Master’s degree this spring, my major was physiology/developmental biology and the title of my thesis was ”Processing of Decapentaplegic by Pro-protein Convertases”. Here is the web-site of my research group: http://www.biocenter.helsinki.fi/bi/shimmi/, and if you click on members you’ll see who I’m working with.
- constantly writing about Chinese and Japanese culture and food. After spending 9 months in Hong Kong as an exchange student I love Asian food. Ok, not so much the meat dishes, mostly snacks – like Chinese French toast, egg baos and rice flour balls with sesame or peanuts.
- a serious TV watcher. This is how I’ve always been. It’s like my habit of talking out loud or biting my nails, I just can’t help it.
- a type I diabetic, which I have been for 3 ½ years now. I’m currently taking a daily dose of 16 units of Lantus and 20-30 units of Novorapid (my insulin intake tends to go up during weekends, I wonder why…).
So there you go! Happy reading!

Skulle bara påminna dig om att ändra länken till min sida. Och tack för senast!
