Iron man II

Storyline: Everyone knows that Tony Stark is Iron man and that he is unbeatable. As no-one dares to challenge him there is world peace at last. There are however two problems: The energy source driving the Iron man suit and keeping Stark alive is also slowly killing him. And a Russian scientist has the drawings for the energy source – giving him the ability to create the evil version of Iron man.

Oh how I love this movie.

And it’s a totally irrational love, because it’s really quite a lousy film. The storyline moves like it has the hiccups. I know that it is based on a comic but I really think that the only reason they put SHIELD (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) in the movie was so that Samuel L. Jackson would get to wear an eyepatch.

And say things like: I have my eye on you.

I mean really?! Sometimes it seems like the whole thing is an inside joke.

And the lovestory! The director is obviously better at shooting bigger guns than Cupid’s arrows. But who can blame him. If you think of Superman – you could go a couple of kilometers up into the sky and the warmth from his body would still keep you safe. But if you try kissing Iron man a couple of kilometers above earth your tongue would probably get stuck on a piece of metal.

But how can i not love it! Just look at all the characters!

With the bad guy being resurrected from the fatal helicopter “accident” he suffered in 2000. Charlies Angels did a real number on him but now he’s back, dance moves, lollipop and all. (Couldn’t find a good clip of him on youtube so here’s an old one from Charlie’s Angels, but he’s basically the same guy in Iron man – just changed his name from Knox to Hammer)

And then there’s Scarlett Johansson kicking ass in a catwomen suit. Mickey Rourke with a Russian accent. Don Cheadle getting suited up. And of course the ever so lovely Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr.

Just go and see it, please!

I think the next movie (Iron man III) should be more relationship based. Pepper Potts could get kidnapped right before the wedding ceremony and nine months later she would reappear with Stark’s son in her arms. Overjoyed he would naturally build a baby-sized Iron man suit and when Pepper says “really?” he would reply: “Think about it, we’ll never have to change another diaper”.

Yesterday I spent two hours in +4 degrees Celsius.

May is cleaning month at work and the ones who draw the short straw have to clean out the cold room. But now it’s done and on Monday we’ll have a lottery with great prizes for all the busy worker bees. And I who have no luck at all…

Today I spent 3 hours sitting in a chair and staring into space. For that I got a free coke and a sandwich.

It was the entrance exam for those who want to study medicine at Turku University and as there are ~600 applicants they need a lot of people supervising the exam. The future doctors (and the 500 who do not get accepted) are divided into a number of rooms and in each room sits three, more or less graduated, adults that make sure there’s no cheating going on.

I found it so cute that a lot of the students had ripped off the label of their water bottles – you know, the way you have to do at the high-school exams. And another thing – no one drinks coffee! There were just a lot of energy drinks – I sat there for three hours and was amazed that only two persons had to go to the toilet. I felt the need to pee just by looking at all the drinking they were doing 🙂

Chocolate chip cookies!!

So I’ve said it before – the best thing with travelling is the food! In Scotland that was the enormous chocolate chip cookies, fresh from the bakery, soft in the middle with crunchy edges and like 100% chocolate.  Here is a picture:

Did I mention the size! Enormous!

So naturally I wanted to enjoy these cookies when I came back home. Unfortunately Finland does not have a strong cookie culture so I had to trust the ever so reliable internet to give me a good recipe. And I found this, and after some alterations I hereby give you the perfect cookie recipe:

The perfect chocolate chip cookies (~20 cookies)

  • 2,5 dl oatmeal (mixed in blender)
  • 2,75 dl flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1tsp vanilla sugar
  • 4tbsp cocoa powder
  • 200g margarine
  • 1 dl brown sugar
  • 1 dl sugar
  • one bag of instant chocolate pudding mix (~80g)
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g melted dark chocolate
  • ~250g chocolate chips (or really just as much as you like)
  1. Mix the dry ingredients.
  2. Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar.
  3. Beat in the instant pudding mix until blended.
  4. Stir in the eggs and the melted dark chocolate.
  5. Blend in the flour mixture.
  6. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Bake for ~20min at 175 degrees Celsius.

And they almost look like the original!

The other treat of today is one of my favourite songs sung by American Idols Lee and Crystal. Hope you’ve had a lovely day!

The little nasty creatures attacking my body thought it would be a good idea doing it during our first (and hopefully not last) heatwave. Outside it’s 27 degrees Celsius – only 10.5 degrees below my own body temperature. Went to work today, where it’s cool and wonderful, but did not have the strength to go to prayer group afterwards. Which is kind of ironic, don’t you think…

Anyway, heard a nice thing on TV the other day. An interview with a women who had worked at Chernobyl. After the accident she moved to Finland, learned a new language and got a new occupation – from nuclear plant engineer to porcelain painter.

They asked her what advice she would give others to stay positive even when things around you seem less than bright.

The answer: Do something creative with your hands! And then she told this story:

After God had created man from the clay of the earth he had a small clump of clay left. So God asked man: Is there anything else you would like? And man said: Give me happiness. Then God handed the clump of clay over to the man.

And showing my own “creative” side I give you a picture of my bathroom. Strongly influenced by all the garlands you see online nowadays, I bought one for myself while I was in Scotland. But I’m not so sure I like it…

Away we go

I just watched “Away we go”.

Such a good movie! A must see!

Story: A pregnant couple find themselves clueless to where they are going to raise their daughter. Travelling across US (and Canada) they encounter couples who already seem to have the whole family thing figured out – or not…

Such a cute couple. Such good music. And a dialogue with pearls like: “I will love you even if I can’t find your vagina” “Do you promise that if I die some embarrassing and boring death that you’re gonna tell our daughter that her father was killed by Russian soldiers in this intense hand-to-hand combat in an attempt to save the lives of 850 Chechnyan orphans?”.

And the beautiful cock-sucker scene (however very tiny)

The fact that I had to look up the word “cock” in my English-Swedish dictionary  before I knew how to spell it should give you a clue to what kind of person I am. – And I don’t mean illiterate
